A NEW GAUGE MOUNT OPTION FOR YOUR C5! After many revisions, we are proud to release the Corvette C5 Center Vent Gauge Pod Gauge Holder for your 1997-2004 Corvette. We 3D Scanned & Modeled an OEM donor center vent housing to start the design process. Through a few revisions, mostly for style once we achieved the "behind the scenes" structure and angles, we now have FIP's C5 Center Vent Gauge Holder 1.0 3D Print ready to take a pair of 2 1/16" gauges.
This is an alternate to the most common A- Pillar Dual Gauge Mount from Autometer which we have as well. The mount could also be employed for additional gauges if you already have an A-Pillar package.
Features:
OEM Mounting Tabs
ASA Filament - Better than ABS
Superior Heat Resistance - Better than ABS
UV Resistant - Better than ABS

1997–2004 Corvette C5 Dash Pad Removal (DIY Guide)
This walkthrough focuses on removing the C5 dash pad/top by first pulling the center console + key trim panels so you can access the fasteners cleanly. Tools: T15 / 7mm / 10mm + trim tool Skill: DIY-friendly, take your time
Before you start
- Use plastic trim tools (avoid metal screwdrivers on visible panels).
- Bag & label fasteners by step (console, knee bolster, glove box, dash top).
- Work warm: cold interior plastics crack easier.
Note: Fastener counts can vary by year/options (HUD, radio, etc.). If something doesn’t move with gentle pressure, you missed a screw/clip—don’t force it.
Tools you’ll want on the cart
- Panel/trim tool (plastic wedge)
- Torx T-15 driver
- 7mm socket/nut driver
- 10mm socket + extension
- Phillips screwdriver
- Magnetic tray + zip bags
Step-By-Step
1) Remove console door + traction control panel
- Open the console door and remove the screws at the hinge to remove the door (Phillips)
- Use a panel tool to pry up the traction control switch panel from the rear, disconnect the harness, and remove it.
- Disconnect the 12V accessory connector in the console area.
2) Pull console fasteners (10mm) + ashtray area (T15)
- Remove the two 10mm nuts holding the main console down.
- Open the ashtray/lighter door, remove the ashtray, then remove the T-15 Torx screws in that area (one beside the lighter + one revealed by removing the ashtray
3) Remove the small panel/vent left of ignition (T15 behind it)
- Pry off the small panel/vent to the left of the ignition switch. :contentReference[oaicite:8]{index=8}
- Remove the exposed Torx T-15 screw behind that panel.
4) Lift out the main console
- Lift the e-brake, then carefully pull the main console up until it clears the armrest area.
- Work slowly and disconnect any remaining wiring (lighter/12V, switches) as the console comes up.
- Set the console somewhere safe, away from your work area.
5) Remove radio/climate trim & climate control screws (7mm)
- Lift the receiver/console trim panel carefully; start at the rear and work forward, releasing clips, then disconnect lighter wiring.
- If you’re removing the factory radio: remove the two 7mm screws, slide the radio out, and unplug.
- For the climate control panel: remove the two 7mm bolts holding it in.
6) Lower dash / knee bolster access (driver side)
- Pry the fog lamp/hatch release panel carefully and disconnect it.
- Remove the Torx T15 behind that panel, plus the additional T15 screws under the knee bolster.
- Pull the knee bolster down and rearward to release the locking tabs (it takes some effort).
7) Glove box removal (passenger side)
- Open the glove box wider by squeezing the sides inward to pass the stops.
- Remove the two 10mm nuts behind the glove box door.
- Remove the 7mm screws (passenger door side + front edge) and slide the glove box assembly out.
8) Dash pad/top removal (what you’re here for)
- Work left-to-right and feel for hidden screws along the front/upper edge that were blocked by the center stack/trim.
- Remove any exposed fasteners, then release the dash-top clips with gentle upward pressure.
- Disconnect any wiring (sun sensor, HUD, etc.) before fully lifting the pad/top out.
Reassembly checklist (don’t skip)
- Reconnect all console/stack harnesses (traction control, 12V, lighter) before final trim install.
- Test: ignition on → HVAC lights/display, radio power, traction control button, 12V outlet.
- Confirm no pinched wiring under console edges.
- Only then reinstall trim panels + screws and reconnect the battery last.
