This is our HD aluminum radiator for the 1997 – 2004 C5 Corvette with a 6 speed manual transmission and 1997 – 2000 Corvettes with automatic transmission. This will not fit the 2001 – 2004 Corvettes that use the quick disconnect transmission cooler line fittings. This radiator features:

– All aluminum construction with a heavy duty 2-row core with 1.0″ tubes with a high density core that has a higher density core than other high performance radiators costing 3 times as much!

– Heavy duty transmission cooler for automatic applications

– Fully TIG welded construction with no epoxy.

– Upper hose and lower connection is 1-5/16″.

– Overall dimensions are 28″ wide x 18-7/8″ tall. Core is 24-3/4″ wide x 17-3/8″ high.

The radiators has a natural finish and for pictures, has been cleaned with scotch brite and Never Dull cleaner.

ELECTRODE Kit Information:

Engineered Cooling Products Consumable Electrode Kit V2 - The Radiator Savior

The number one thing that is likely to destroy your radiator is electrolysis. When the engine grounds or PCM grounds are old, weak or break, the engine coolant becomes a ground path. In modern builds with LSX or EFI swaps, this can be a major problem. Especially when using an OEM wiring harness that has been cut up or butchered for a swap or Corvette C5's which are "ground" Nightmares.

Vehicles at significant risk of electrolysis are corvettes, s-10 swaps, 4th gen fbodies, any EFI swap and most LSX swaps.

Other culprits include cheap Home Depot crimp connectors that are not made for automotive use. They look great when you install them, but check on them 6 months later. Especially the super cheap ones made from vinyl.

Any vehicle with ratchet old wiring is especially at risk of electrolysis. This is bad news. When too much electrical current ends up in the radiator, it’s a grim prognosis for your radiator. It’s actually a death warrant for your radiator, it’s a just matter of time until it starts leaking.

Much like the anodizing process with aluminum, when you have current flowing through the radiator, it puts the corrosion process on steroids and destroys the brazed tube-to-header joint on the radiator. There is no saving the radiator once this happens.

This electrode kit will substantially help reduce the effects of electrolysis by concentrating the current flow on the zinc anode rather than the radiator. After lots of testing, our new version has a tapped port for grounding the anode to the chassis. So the consumable electrode gets destroyed rather than your shiny new radiator.

Includes the anode, wiring, crimp connectors and instruction manual. Has 1/4″ NPT thread and works in place of most drain cocks.

Things that could pair well together with what you are looking at...

Customers praised the aluminum radiator's "perfect fitment" and impressive cooling performance, with temps "much cooler than stock." Many highlighted excellent welds and quality craftsmanship. However, some reported durability concerns with leaks developing at fin joints, and minor fitment issues with condenser tabs and electrode sizing.

  • Fitment was absolutely perfect. Radiator keeps the car much cooler than the stock unit.
  • Weld quality and attention to details is amazing.
  • Fits almost perfectly and works amazing.

Looks and fit great, minutes the electrode kit.

Radiator fits and looks great. Welds look tight and everything was packaged with care. My ONLY issue with this (and I’m happy to update if rectified) is that the electrode is too large to fit where it’s meant to go. The only way to make it fit is to cut it in half so that it doesn’t hit the inside of the radiator. As shown below this is how much I cut to get it to fit. I think simply a shorter electrode or some other shape to get this to work from factory would be great.

Looks great, but fitment needs to be better

The tabs that hold the shroud and condenser on the bottom of the radiator are too narrow by 1/16” and do not allow those items to slide in like designed. They need to widen the inside tabs by 1/16” and it would be great (or make the weld for the inside tab towards the outside of the car; as it stands now the condenser is hitting the weld), but at this time my AC condenser does not slide in the tabs and will have to be zip tied on the bottom. The shroud fits after some persuasion, but it’s plastic so it was able to bend a little.

Jeff - Thanks for the feedback and working through this with us. The data you supplied did uncover an issue that we have addressed and have pulled several rads. It looks like the radiator was about 1/2' thicker than normal and this could have adverse effects on installation. We/ECP has dispatched a replacement with a call tag. This has been addressed internally on ECP side and we appreciate your confidence.

Thanks,
Brian FIP Boss

Good fitment and performance, very poor quality.

Bought and installed this radiator in my car, install was easy, fitment was good and it dropped coolant temps noticeably. However after a year and about 10,000 miles of driving it sprung a leak from the joint between the fins and the driver's side end tank. I went through the warranty process with ECP (ECP's customer service was very good), and they sent me a second radiator after I paid for shipping. I installed it with the radiator saver anode, verified the coolant was grounded properly to avoid corrosion, and after two weeks the second one sprung a leak in the same spot. I bought an oem style radiator after electing to not go through the warranty process a second time, and have been much more satisfied.

Perfect fitment and even better cooling

Picked this up because my stock radiator had a hairline crack on the end tank. A lot of the older posts on Facebook said fitment wasnt great but I figure at less than half the price of the D brand I'd risk it. Fitment was absolutely perfect. The condenser and fans slid right into place better than OEM. Quality and welds are on par with the Koyo Radiators I have in other cars that cost significantly more.

Radiator keeps the car much much cooler than the stock unit. Hardly ever seeing higher than 210F unless Im in heavy traffic and higher ambient temps.

10/10 would absolutely recommend this to anyone needing a new radiator or looking for an upgrade.

Will this clear the intake tube on an ecs supercharger kit? I purchased an ebay unit and it is a maybe a 1/4 inch too tall and doesn’t have the little stand offs to use the stock rad / air bridge lid. Ty.

FI Performance

We can confirm it clears the A&A Corvette, pancake intake pipes. We know people have done it with ECS in the past by moving the front Support bracket forward about an inch.
