As a leading supplier for the independent aftermarket, HELLA also impresses with xenon ballasts. Xenon headlights bring significantly more light onto the road than classic halogen headlights. They increase safety in the dark and are now present in almost all vehicle classes. A xenon headlamp consists of the gas discharge lamp, the xenon ballast and the reflection or projection system. The ballast unit is needed to operate the xenon lamps. Several control and safety circuits are integrated in the unit. A defective ballast results in a total failure of the headlamp.
