This is our HD aluminum radiator for the 1997 – 2001 C5 Corvette with an automatic transmission. This will not fit the 2001 – 2004 Corvettes that use the quick disconnect transmission cooler line fittings. Please see our model with the quick disconnect fittings for those year Corvettes. This radiator features:

– All aluminum construction with a heavy duty 2-row core with 1.0″ tubes with a high density core that has a higher density core than other high performance radiators costing 3 times as much!

– Heavy duty transmission cooler for automatic applications

– Fully TIG welded construction with no epoxy.

– Upper hose and lower connection is 1-5/16″.

– Overall dimensions are 28″ wide x 18-7/8″ tall. Core is 24-3/4″ wide x 17-3/8″ high.

If you are running a stahl converter 2800-3000 RPM or higher, USE AN EXTERNAL TRANS COOLER.  Converters above that RPM generate a lot more heat and you will super heat your radiator.  We can help you on the external trans cooler, just ask.  Most are going with the MT version.

NOTE: 3/8" Fitting on the Trans Cooler.

The radiators has a natural finish and for pictures, has been cleaned with scotch brite and Never Dull cleaner.

ELECTRODE Kit Information:

Engineered Cooling Products Consumable Electrode Kit V2 - The Radiator Savior

The number one thing that is likely to destroy your radiator is electrolysis. When the engine grounds or PCM grounds are old, weak or break, the engine coolant becomes a ground path. In modern builds with LSX or EFI swaps, this can be a major problem. Especially when using an OEM wiring harness that has been cut up or butchered for a swap or Corvette C5's which are "ground" Nightmares.

Vehicles at significant risk of electrolysis are corvettes, s-10 swaps, 4th gen fbodies, any EFI swap and most LSX swaps.

Other culprits include cheap Home Depot crimp connectors that are not made for automotive use. They look great when you install them, but check on them 6 months later. Especially the super cheap ones made from vinyl.

Any vehicle with ratchet old wiring is especially at risk of electrolysis. This is bad news. When too much electrical current ends up in the radiator, it’s a grim prognosis for your radiator. It’s actually a death warrant for your radiator, it’s a just matter of time until it starts leaking.

Much like the anodizing process with aluminum, when you have current flowing through the radiator, it puts the corrosion process on steroids and destroys the brazed tube-to-header joint on the radiator. There is no saving the radiator once this happens.

This electrode kit will substantially help reduce the effects of electrolysis by concentrating the current flow on the zinc anode rather than the radiator. After lots of testing, our new version has a tapped port for grounding the anode to the chassis. So the consumable electrode gets destroyed rather than your shiny new radiator.

Includes the anode, wiring, crimp connectors and instruction manual. Has 1/4″ NPT thread and works in place of most drain cocks.

Radiator for C5 Corvette

I received my new radiator for the C5 Corvette. It looked great. I was missing the zinc stick that was supposed to come with it, but FIP got that out in the mail to me and it got here in time to be installed with the radiator. It is now in the car and working beautifully!

Ready for Road Rallies and Long Trips!

I bought the ECP radiator + consumable electrode to replace an OEM radiator that had started weeping at the seams. No shipment tracking was noted, but everything arrived in good condition. Install went well with basic hand tools. I had a few drips from the hoses after installation, but after adjusting the clamps it's great. I switched one of the OEM clamps at the steam port on the radiator for a worm gear type as the barb supplied wouldn't stop dripping. I also cut a small piece of the rubber hold down on each end to fit the larger radiator. Be patient with the install and everything should fit well.

Overall I'm happy with the purchase and it should last many years and road trips.

Thanks for the great feedback. Yes, we dropped the ball on tracking and while we had it so we knew everything was on the road, we have been more focused on getting parts out on time and playing paperwork catchup when we can however getting the parts on the way top our clients is #1 priority. Everything else comes second...

Glad I bought it.

Talked to Brian, bought this to help combat high running temps down south in the summertime in my Z06. Previously have used a Dewitt’s. Works every bit as well, and combined with a thermostat it has no issues keeping the temps reasonable all day. Fits fine, welds looks good. No complaints at all.
