ECS Corvette C5 C6 Torque Tamer

The ECS Torque Tamer is designed to suppress the lifting effect of the entire drive train during heavy launches. This lifting effect causes a great deal of stress to the rear of the torque tube. Most straight axle cars have what is known as a torque arm to stop the entire differential from spinning in the opposite direction of the wheels. This transfers the torque from the wheels to the body of the car. Our Corvettes have a torque tube which now does all of that. On a stock car, the weight of the transmission assembly and strength of the tube are enough to suppress flexing of the torque tube itself. Once we start adding large amounts of horsepower, this weight is no longer adequate. The torque tube flexes significantly, with the bulk of the load right at the rear of the tube.

The Torque Tamer keeps the torque tube from flexing at that point and distributes the torque load throughout the car better than the motor mounts alone. It also protects the driveshaft from taking the flex.

Please note: As of 2026, there is a new, more heavy-duty design. Owners of the older design can also update to the new version if desired.
