What is the benefit of an intercooler?
The benefits of an intercooler from WAGNER TUNING are manifold. For one thing, the turbocharger - since the intercooler generates less back pressure - reaches the programmed boost pressure more easily and quickly. This leads to a relief of the turbocharger and to a better response behaviour. On the other hand, intercooler tuning causes the air compressed by the turbocharger to be cooled down considerably. This leads to a higher proportion of oxygen in the air delivered and thus to an increase in engine performance.
What disadvantages does a larger intercooler from WAGNER TUNING have?
In short: none. In fact, retrofitting an intercooler to your vehicle does your vehicle good, because thanks to the intercooler the turbocharger is relieved and combustion is more efficient.
What is the difference between performance and competition?
The fundamental difference between performance on the one hand and competition on the other lies in the structure of the intercooler net. In the area of performance, it is a bar & plate net, while we use a tube fin net for our charge air coolers from the competition area.
The bar & plate net originally comes from simple industrial production and has been used as a charge air cooler network for a long time, because it can be produced cheaply in any version. The basic structure of this network, however, ensures a higher weight or an increased proportion of material, which leads to the storage of the heat from the charge air if the load continues. The production of a tube fin net is more complex and therefore more expensive due to the necessary use of special tools. This type of net has a significantly lower proportion of material - and therefore less weight -, which means that the tube fin net can better dissipate the high temperatures to the environment and thus work even more efficiently.
What is the difference between FMIC, TMIC and SMIC?
This question is answered quickly when you look at the terms that are hidden behind the English-language abbreviations: An FMIC (Front Mounted Intercooler) is a charge air cooler that sits in the center of the front of the vehicle, whereas an SMIC (Side Mounted Intercooler) located laterally in the front of the vehicle. A TMIC (Top Mounted Intercooler) has its place directly on the engine.
