As part of the rebuild, we install new boots on the rack, and also take special care to seal the magnasteer wire area\u003cem\u003e*\u003c\/em\u003e, which is an area commonly prone to leaks. If you would like us to install new inner tie rods on the rack, we recommend sourcing those yourself ahead of time. Include them with your rack, and we will install the new inner tie rods during reassembly so your rack is drop-in ready. As with any rack, individual cores can have internal issues with hard parts, such as damage, wear, or pitting from oxidation. Fixing these types of issues is critical to ensure the rack is rebuilt to OEM specifications, and fixes can influence the total cost of the rebuild. If we find any issues that will prevent us from getting your rack core to OEM specs, you will be notified, and the issue will be addressed accordingly. During the rebuild, we do a custom internal plug on the housing hole, which guarantees a seal. If you want this done to your rack, please type this in the “comments” section during checkout. The cost for the full delete adds $200 to whatever rebuild option you are choosing.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe electromagnet will no longer be making assist changes as you drive, so the rack valve will feel the same, no matter the vehicle speed. If you aren’t sure if you’ll like this or not, try driving and cornering your Corvette at exactly 45 mpg. This is the speed at which the magnasteer is not active, so this will be your steering effort all the time if you choose to delete it. By deleting the magnasteer system, an ABS light and code may appear due to the magnasteer running through the ABS module controller.
